This page describes the process of growing broadleaf, the key ingredient to Muniemaker's success:

BROADLEAF FARMING PHOTOS

Step 1.   The first step is to plant the broadleaf seeds in a cold frame,

Step 2.  Next the seedlings grow,, are weeded, and checked regularly for quality

Step 3.  When the seedlings are a couple of inches, and the weather is right, they get transplanted to the feild.

Step 4.  More transplanting.  Note the color of the dirt.  The sandy soil and the climate in the valley are perfect for wrapper growing.

Step 5.  After transplanting, the plants are pampered for 6 weeks

Step 6.  After transplanting, where they grow and grow.

Step 7.  Until they are fully grown.  Broadleaf unlike shade, is only about waist high when ready to harvest.

Step 8.  Harvesting is a frenzy of activity, cutting

Step 9.  With broadleaf the whole stalk is speared, unlike shade which is handled as leaves only.
